The reason why I call this the best fasting and prayer information is because it is from my heart. Yes I do share some general things and even quote biblical verses about the subject but essentially it is all based on my own personal experience as a Christian who has undertaken prayer and fasting a few times in my life.
I started fasting when I was about 15 years of age. That was back in high school when I had just become a born again Christian. The first time was just a couple of hours, that is, I only ate in the evening around 6pm. I was in boarding school so I used to keep all my food for the day until the evening when I would then break the fast.
Then the next one was a three day fasting and prayer session where I did not eat any solid food but only drank water and juice. I was still in high school at this time. This means I has no proper guidance with regards to the fasting and prayer, after all I was in boarding school and my church was hundred of kilometers away.
The first time I took a 7 day fasting and prayer session, I thought I was going to collapse right in class. Fortunately I did not. I believe the Holy Spirit helped me through those moments and I was able to finish the fast with ease.
It is those moments that I believe helped me to retain my Christianity. Years later I am still strong in the Lord. I have had my Pastor teach me about it and have also enrolled in some helpful classes.
My point is, fasting and prayer works. It did for me when I was just a teenager and it is still working for me years later. Now, let me just share some few general facts about this interesting subject.
Some people say fasting and prayer got out of style age ago. With this I thought I should share this quote by Mr. Bright in an interview,
''Fasting and prayer is the atomic bomb, or the hydrogen bomb, of all the Christian disciplines,''
We see in the in the Holy Bible, God's people doing it every time a major decision or event was about to occur. Even today some people report wonderful things done by God as a result. Read Luke 2:37; 5:33 to learn about what it is really all about. Basically, it can restore the loss of your love for God, can enable you to hear from God.
One thing for sure is that fasting and prayer can be abused. Read Isaiah 58:3-9; Hebrews 11:6. If you do it for show, then it will not be as effective as you want it to be.
This is why I recommend that you buy yourself a book that you can use as a reference guide to successful fasting and prayer.
